Key Specs for Choosing a Coway WiFi Model

Check Filtration Layers

Look at the filter type listed in the specs. The AP-1519P uses a standard HEPA filter for basic particle capture. The AP-1720G includes a washable pre-filter alongside its HEPA unit. Washable filters reduce long-term maintenance costs because you can rinse them instead of replacing them. If you prefer lower upkeep, choose the model with the washable option. Otherwise, the standard HEPA filter provides reliable particle removal for everyday allergens and dust.

Verify Target Pollutants

Match the target pollutant list to your home needs. Both models address smoke, odors, and allergies. The AP-1720G explicitly lists pet dander as a target pollutant. This specification indicates the filtration system is tuned for pet hair and related allergens. If you have pets, this specific listing matters. It ensures the unit handles the extra biological debris common in homes with animals. Check the attribute list to confirm the pollutant type before buying.

Assess Room Coverage

Room size dictates which unit fits your space. The AP-1720G covers up to 1,860 square feet. This large capacity suits open living areas or large bedrooms. The AP-1519P is rated for standard large rooms, typically smaller than the AP-1720G capacity. If your room exceeds 930 square feet, the AP-1720G is the safer choice. Always compare the square footage rating to your room dimensions to ensure adequate air circulation and filtration speed.

Review Smart Features

Both units offer WiFi and app connectivity for remote control. The AP-1519P includes an Auto Mode that adjusts fan speed based on air quality. The AP-1720G features an Air Quality Monitor. This sensor provides real-time feedback on current air conditions. If you want automatic adjustments without manual input, the Auto Mode is essential. If you prefer to monitor data via the app, the Air Quality Monitor provides the necessary metrics for informed decisions.

Compare Physical Dimensions

Check the size specs to ensure the unit fits your space. The AP-1519P measures 16.8 x 18.3 x 9.8 inches. The AP-1720G measures 18.5 x 19.7 x 8.3 inches. The AP-1720G is wider and taller but slightly shallower. Weight also differs, with the AP-1519P at 12.3 pounds and the AP-1720G at 20.5 pounds. Heavier units may feel more stable but are harder to move. Measure your intended placement area before deciding.
